making launcher

I have a chess program that I can run by going to the file and then double clicking it and it runs fine. But whatever I do to try and make a launcher for it I get permission denied or file doesn't exist. See screenshot below. The file is scid and I have made it executable.

I suppose by "launcher" you mean a .desktop file, what does it look like? (in particular what do you putt for "Exec=")
BTW what DE or theme is that? Looks really retro.

I am using xubuntu so the launcher looks like this

oops I figured it out. I needed quotes around the file path even though it had no spaces in it. Thank you
